This past weekend, Check On Your Teammates had the opportunity to attend Strangers in the Night in Montreal, one of the city’s most anticipated charity gala events. The evening brought together community leaders, supporters, organizers, sponsors, performers, and guests for a night built around entertainment, connection, and most importantly, giving back. It was a great reminder of what can happen when people come together around meaningful causes and a shared commitment to supporting others.
A Night Supporting Important Causes
At the heart of Strangers in the Night is its mission to support charities that make a real difference in the community. This year’s event supported incredible causes including The West Island Women’s Shelter and Sun Youth. These organizations provide critical support to individuals, families, women, youth, and community members who need help, safety, resources, and care. Being in the room for an event that shines a light on that work was meaningful for us as an organization. For Check On Your Teammates, mental health and community support are deeply connected. Whether it is checking in on someone who may be struggling, helping create safer spaces, or supporting organizations that provide essential services, it all comes back to one simple idea: people need people.
Recognizing the People Behind the Evening
A special shoutout goes to the SITN Foundation, founder Larry Day, the full organizing team, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone involved in bringing such a meaningful evening together. Events like Strangers in the Night do not happen without people who care deeply about giving back. From the planning and coordination to the fundraising, entertainment, partnerships, and overall execution, it was clear how much work went into creating a memorable and impactful night. We are grateful to have attended and to have been surrounded by people who understand the importance of community, generosity, and showing up for causes that matter.
Meaningful Connections Throughout the Night
For Check On Your Teammates, the evening was also an opportunity to connect with people who share a passion for community, philanthropy, mental health, and helping others. Throughout the night, we had the chance to meet and speak with Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Mayor of Montréal, Orla Johannes, TV and radio host, and many others who were part of such a special evening. We were also grateful to experience an incredible performance by Flo Rida, which brought so much energy and excitement to the night. The entertainment, atmosphere, and people in attendance all contributed to an evening that felt both celebratory and meaningful.
Why Showing Up Matters
Nights like this are a reminder that showing up matters. Supporting good people, good causes, and meaningful conversations is how movements grow. Sometimes support starts with attending an event, listening to the stories being shared, meeting new people, and finding ways to build relationships around a common purpose. For Check On Your Teammates, being present at Strangers in the Night was about more than attending a gala. It was about standing behind organizations doing important work, recognizing the people making that work possible, and continuing to build connections with those who care about mental health, community, and impact.
Continuing the Conversation
As Check On Your Teammates continues to grow, events like Strangers in the Night remind us why connection is so important. Every conversation matters. Every relationship matters. Every opportunity to support someone, check in on someone, or stand behind a meaningful cause helps strengthen the larger movement. We are grateful to everyone who made Strangers in the Night such a memorable evening, and we are thankful for the opportunity to be part of a night dedicated to giving back. Check on your teammates. Support your community. Keep showing up.
